Therefore we too, brothers and sisters, must cling to examples such as these.
For it is written: “Cling to the holy, for those who cling to them will be made holy.”
And again in another place it says: “With an innocent person you will be innocent, and with an elect person you will be elect, and with a crooked person you will act crookedly.”
Therefore let us cling to the innocent and righteous, for these are God's elect.
Why are there strife, angry passions, divisions, schisms, and war among you?
Do we not have one God and one Christ and one Spirit of grace poured out upon us? And is there not one calling in Christ?
Why do we tear apart and divide the members of Christ and rebel against our own body, reaching such a degree of madness that we forget we are members of one another? Remember the words of the Lord Jesus.
For he said: “Woe to that person! It would have been better for him not to have been born than to cause one of my elect to stumble. It would have been better for a millstone to be hung around him and for him to be sunk in the sea than to turn one of my elect aside.”
Your schism has turned many aside, cast many into discouragement, many into doubt, and all of us into grief. And still your rebellion continues.
