The Father, compassionate in every way and full of kindness, has tender mercy toward those who fear him, and gently and graciously gives his gifts to those who approach him with a sincere mind.
Therefore let us not be double-minded, and let our soul form no false notions concerning his surpassing and glorious gifts.
May this Scripture be far from us, where it says: “Wretched are the double-minded, those who doubt in their soul and say, ‘We heard these things even in the days of our fathers, and behold, we have grown old, and none of them has happened to us.’
Foolish people! Compare yourselves to a tree. Take a vine: first it sheds its leaves, then a shoot appears, then a leaf, then a flower, and after these an unripe grape, and then a ripe cluster.” You see that in a short time the fruit of the tree reaches maturity.
In truth his will shall be fulfilled quickly and suddenly, as Scripture also bears witness: “He will come quickly and will not delay,” and, “Suddenly the Lord will come to his temple, and the Holy One whom you await.”
