Someone asked Abba Sopatrus, “Give me a command, Abba, and I will keep it.” He said, “Do not let a woman enter your cell, and do not read apocryphal writings. Also, do not investigate the image of God in the human being. This is not heresy but ignorance and contentiousness on both sides, for it is impossible for a creature to comprehend this matter.”
