When Abba Romanus was about to die, his disciples gathered around him and asked, “How should we conduct ourselves?” The elder answered, “I do not remember ever telling any of you to do something without first resolving in my own mind not to become angry if he did not do what I said. And so we lived in peace for all our time together.”
