Ischyrion

The holy Fathers once prophesied about the last generation. They asked, “What have we accomplished?” One of them, the great Abba Ischyrion, answered, “We have fulfilled the commandments of God.” They asked, “What will those who come after us accomplish?” He said, “They will reach half our work.” They asked, “And what about those after them?” He said, “The people of that generation will not have works at all. But temptation will come upon them, and those who are found approved in that time will be greater than us and our Fathers.”
