Two brothers lived together in great love. Each had resolved to do the other’s will, and they remained like this for many years. The enemy, wanting to separate them, appeared at the doorway in a form that looked like a dove to one brother and like a raven to the other. One said, “Do you see that dove?” The other replied, “It is a raven.” They began to argue, then rose against each other and fought until blood was shed, and they separated to the enemy’s great delight.

After three days they came to themselves, returned, and each made a prostration before the other, asking forgiveness. Then they told each other what each had seen and understood that the enemy had caused their quarrel. After that they remained together until death.
