A brother asked Abba Pistamon, “What should I do? I am distressed when I sell my handiwork.” The elder answered, “Abba Sisoes and the others also sold what they made. There is no harm in this. But when you sell something, state the price of the vessel once. After that, if you want to lower the price, that is up to you. In this way you will find rest.” The brother asked again, “If I have enough for my needs from some other source, do you advise me still to care about handiwork?” The elder answered, “However much you have, do not abandon your handiwork. Do as much as you can, only without disturbance.”
