Abba Pityrion, the disciple of Abba Anthony, said, “Whoever wants to drive out demons must first bring the passions of the soul under control. Whatever passion a person conquers, he also casts out its demon. The demon of anger is joined to anger: if you master anger, its demon is cast out. The same is true of each of the other passions.”
