Therefore you who laid the foundation of the rebellion, submit to the presbyters and be disciplined toward repentance, bending the knees of your hearts.
Learn to submit, laying aside the arrogant and proud self-will of your tongue. For it is better for you to be found small and esteemed within the flock of Christ than to appear preeminent and be cast out from his hope.
For the all-virtuous Wisdom says this: “Behold, I will pour out for you an utterance of my breath, and I will teach you my word.
Because I called and you did not obey, and I stretched out words and you paid no attention, but you made my counsels ineffective and disobeyed my corrections, therefore I also will laugh at your destruction and rejoice when ruin comes upon you, when sudden tumult overtakes you and catastrophe arrives like a storm, or when affliction and siege come upon you.
For it will happen that when you call upon me, I will not listen to you. Evil people will seek me and will not find me, because they hated wisdom and did not choose the fear of the Lord. They were unwilling to pay attention to my counsels and mocked my corrections.
Therefore they will eat the fruits of their own way and will be filled with their own ungodliness.
Because they wronged the innocent, they will be put to death, and investigation will destroy the ungodly. But the one who listens to me will dwell in confident hope and will rest without fear of any evil.”
