Therefore let us be humble-minded, brothers and sisters, laying aside all arrogance, conceit, foolishness, and anger, and let us do what is written. For the Holy Spirit says: “Let the wise person not boast in his wisdom, nor the strong person in his strength, nor the rich person in his riches; but let the one who boasts boast in the Lord, in seeking him and practicing justice and righteousness.” Above all, let us remember the words of the Lord Jesus that he spoke when teaching gentleness and patience.
For he said: “Be merciful, so that you may receive mercy. Forgive, so that you may be forgiven. As you do, so it will be done to you. As you give, so it will be given to you. As you judge, so you will be judged. As you show kindness, so kindness will be shown to you. With the measure you use, it will be measured to you.”
By this command and these instructions, let us strengthen ourselves to walk obediently according to his holy words, being humble-minded. For the holy word says:
“Upon whom will I look, if not upon the one who is gentle and quiet and trembles at my words?”
