Take up the letter of the blessed apostle Paul.
What did he write to you first, at the beginning of the gospel?
In truth, he wrote to you spiritually concerning himself, Cephas, and Apollos, because even then you had formed partisan attachments.
But that partisanship brought less sin upon you, for you attached yourselves to apostles who had received testimony and to a man approved by them.
But now consider who those are who have turned you aside and diminished the dignity of your renowned brotherly love.
It is shameful, beloved—exceedingly shameful and unworthy of your way of life in Christ—to hear that the steadfast and ancient Church of the Corinthians is rebelling against its presbyters because of one or two persons.
And this report has reached not only us but also those who stand apart from us, with the result that blasphemies are brought against the name of the Lord because of your foolishness, while you also create danger for yourselves.
