Therefore, brothers, let us leave behind our sojourn in this world and do the will of the One who called us. Let us not be afraid to depart from this world.

For the Lord says, “You will be like lambs in the midst of wolves.”

Peter answered Him, “What if the wolves tear the lambs apart?”

Jesus said to Peter, “After they die, the lambs should not fear the wolves. And you also must not fear those who kill you and can do nothing more to you. Instead, fear the One who, after you die, has authority over soul and body to cast them into the fire of Gehenna.”

And know, brothers, that the sojourn of this flesh in this world is small and short-lived, but Christ’s promise is great and wonderful: rest in the coming kingdom and eternal life.

What, then, must we do to obtain these things except live in holiness and righteousness, regard the things of this world as belonging to another, and not desire them?

For when we desire to possess these things, we fall away from the path of righteousness.
