Since He has shown us such great mercy—first, because we who are alive no longer sacrifice to dead gods or worship them, but through Him have come to know the Father of truth—what knowledge do we have of Him except this: not to deny the One through whom we came to know Him?
For He Himself also says, “Whoever confesses Me before people, I will confess that person before My Father.”
This, then, is our reward: that we confess the One through whom we were saved.
And how do we confess Him? By doing what He says, not disobeying His commandments, and honoring Him not only with our lips but with all our heart and all our mind.
He also says in Isaiah, “This people honors Me with their lips, but their heart is far from Me.”
