The majesty of Christ

So that the prophetic Spirit might make known to us that the one who suffers these things has an inexpressible generation and reigns over his enemies, it said:

“Who shall describe his generation? For his life is taken away from the earth; because of their lawless deeds he comes to death. I will give the wicked in place of his burial and the rich in place of his death, because he committed no lawlessness and no deceit was found in his mouth. And the Lord desires to cleanse him from his wound. If you make an offering for sin, your soul shall see long-lived offspring. The Lord desires to remove his soul from suffering, to show him light and form him with understanding, to justify the righteous one who serves many well; and he himself shall bear our sins. Therefore he shall inherit many and divide the spoils of the strong, because his life was handed over to death and he was counted among the lawless; and he himself bore the sins of many and was handed over because of their lawless deeds.”

Hear also how it was prophesied that he would ascend into heaven: “Lift up the gates of heaven; be opened, so that the King of glory may enter. Who is this King of glory? The Lord, mighty and powerful.”

And hear also what was said through the prophet Jeremiah concerning how he is going to come from heaven with glory: “Look, one like a Son of Man comes upon the clouds of heaven, and his angels with him.”
