Justin’s argument summarized

Now so that this too may become clear to you: first, that everything we say because we learned it from Christ and from the prophets who came before Him is alone true and older than all the writers who have existed, and that we ask to be accepted not because we say the same things they do, but because we speak the truth; second, that Jesus Christ alone was begotten as God’s Son in a unique sense, being His Logos, firstborn, and power, and that by His will He became a human being and taught us these things for the transformation and restoration of the human race; and third, that before He became a human being among human beings, certain beings—namely, the evil demons already mentioned—anticipated this by using the poets to tell as actual events things they had fabricated as myths, just as they also brought about the infamous and impious accusations made against us, for which there is neither witness nor proof—we will now offer the following demonstration.
