6.10

Let this word be clear to you, my beloved children in the Lord, holy children of Israel, you who have prepared yourselves to go to God and to offer yourselves as a sacrifice to God in all holiness, for no one can receive the inheritance without holiness.

Do you not know, beloved, that the enemies of virtue always lie in wait for the truth? Therefore, beloved, take care not to give sleep to your eyes or slumber to your eyelids. Cry out to your Creator day and night, so that perhaps help may return to you from the Most High and, under His protection, your hearts and thoughts may be in Christ.

Truly, my children, we dwell in the house of the robber and are bound with the bonds of death. I also tell you with certainty that our negligence, our humiliation, and this alien disturbance are not a loss to us alone, but a burden to the angels and to all the saints in Christ Jesus, because they have not yet had rest because of us. Truly, my children, this humiliation of ours is sorrow to them all; and, conversely, our salvation and our glory give blessedness and rest to them all.

And so that you may know that the kindness of the Father does not cease—from Him the movement began, and He continually sustains us with benefits even to this day—this makes us responsible for our own death, because we were created with power over ourselves. Therefore they too continually pray for us, as it is written: “The angel of the Lord will encamp around those who fear Him, and will deliver them.”
