Truly, beloved in the Lord, I write to you as rational people, able to know yourselves. For I know that whoever knows himself will also know God, and whoever knows God will also know His dispensations, which He carries out among His own creatures. Let this saying be clear to you: I do not have bodily love for you, but spiritual love in the worship of God, the God who is glorified in the council of the righteous.

Prepare yourselves while you still have those who intercede for you and pray for your salvation, asking that He pour into your hearts the fire He came to cast upon the earth, so that you may train your dispositions and so that He may give your senses their functions, enabling you to discern evil from good, right from left, non-substance from substance. Jesus knew that matter gives the devil his power; calling His disciples, He said to them, “Do not store up treasures for yourselves on earth,” and, “Do not be anxious about tomorrow, for tomorrow will be anxious for itself.”

Truly, brothers, you know that in times of favorable winds every pilot applauds himself, but in adverse winds every pilot is revealed for what he is. Understand, then, what kind of time this is into which we have come. As for the details of the word of freedom, there were many things that could be said to you; but “if I give an opportunity to the wise, he will become wiser.” I greet you, from the least to the greatest.
