After Antony said this, the two men kissed him. He lifted his feet and, as though he saw friends coming to meet him and was filled with joy at their arrival—for even as he lay there his face appeared joyful—he died and was gathered to the fathers.

According to his command, the two men wrapped his body and buried it, concealing it beneath the ground. To this day no one knows where he was buried except those two alone.

Each of the men who received one of the blessed Antony’s sheepskins or the garment he had worn guarded it as a precious treasure. To look upon these things was like seeing Antony himself, and whoever put them on seemed to carry Antony’s exhortations with joy.
