Therefore read these things to the other brothers, so that they may learn what the life of monks ought to be and may believe that our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ glorifies those who glorify him.
He leads those who serve him to the end not only into the kingdom of heaven, but even here—though they hide themselves and desire to withdraw from the world—he makes them known and renowned everywhere because of their virtue and because of the help they give to others.
And if there is occasion, read this account also among the pagans, so that in this way too they may learn that our Lord Jesus Christ is not only God and the Son of God, but also that Christians who truly serve him and reverently believe in him demonstrate that the demons whom the Greeks themselves regard as gods are no gods at all.
Through Jesus Christ our Lord, Christians trample these demons underfoot and put them to flight as deceivers and corrupters of humanity. To Christ be glory forever and ever. Amen.
