As Antony was leaving Alexandria and we were accompanying him on his way, we reached the city gate. A woman behind us cried out: “Wait, man of God! My daughter is terribly tormented by a demon. Please wait, or I too may be harmed from running after you.”

The old man heard her and, when we also asked him, willingly stopped. When the woman came near, the child was thrown to the ground.

Antony prayed and called upon the name of Christ. The child rose up healed, for the unclean spirit had left her. Her mother blessed God, and everyone gave thanks.

Antony too rejoiced and departed for the mountain as though returning to his own home.
