Therefore restrain every lawlessness
and every act of violence in every place,
away from those who suffer violence, from one end of the earth to the other,
so that those who know You may have respite to serve You.
For they cannot serve You while they serve those who commit violence.
Did You not rescue Your people Israel at that time from the hands of that lawless Nebuchadnezzar,
and all the others like him, who afflicted them when You handed them over into their hands because You were angry with them?
Even if they seek You there, they would not be able to utter Your blessings as they wish,
because they have no freedom to speak under servitude to so many tasks.
As they said, “How can we sing the song of the house of the Lord in a foreign land?”
