For if in a short time I had such fellowship with your bishop—not human but spiritual—how much more do I call you blessed, who are so closely united with him as the Church is with Jesus Christ and Jesus Christ with the Father, so that all things may be harmonious in unity?
Let no one be deceived: if anyone is not within the sanctuary, that person lacks the bread of God. For if the prayer of one or two has such power, how much more the prayer of the bishop and of the whole Church?
Therefore, whoever does not come together in the common assembly has already become proud and has separated himself. For it is written, “God opposes the proud.” Let us therefore be diligent not to oppose the bishop, so that we may be submitting to God.
