Likewise, you give them calves and cows, field by field, for them to raise until they are full-grown, and then you take them away.
Some of them you make give the animals back to you as a token of honor, while you do nothing good for them in return.
Others you make raise them for you in the same way—horses, donkeys, sheep, calves, and pigs.
If only you would stop there!
For whatever you desire among their animals—
or even among their other possessions—
you seize from them:
some for nothing,
others for a small price,
besides bread and wine, food and chaff,
and barley for your animals, along with everything else.
