Just as you also said, “The people and my stewards bring things to him,”

you are telling us yourself and exposing your wickedness: you do not want the children of God to bring an offering to His Church,

or to do even one good thing in the name of Jesus.

You will rejoice if you hear that they have gone to the oracles of demons,

because you yourself worship and serve the creation rather than the Creator of all things—Jesus, who is blessed forever—

rather than hear of them or see them going to God in every place where He is invoked, blessed, and glorified.

Or if more than the many people of whom you said, “They bring things to him,”—

if they come over to me without restraint—for I too serve them well, because they are my brothers, storing up for them in heavenly treasuries the things they give in honor of God—

did they take any of it from your house or from the house of your fathers?

You rob what does not belong to you, evil man.

Instead, you act wickedly and put obstacles in the way of those who give to the poor,

although they know that what is given, or given as alms, to those in need belongs to Christ, who gave it to them so that they might rejoice and become rich in good works.
