When the centurion saw the dispute stirred up by the Jews, he placed the body in the middle and burned it, as was their custom.

Then, afterward, we gathered up his bones, which are more precious than costly stones and more valuable than gold, and laid them in a suitable place.

There, whenever we are able to gather together in gladness and joy, the Lord will grant us to celebrate the birthday of his martyrdom, both in remembrance of those who have already competed and for the training and preparation of those who will do so.
