And it is fitting for you not to take advantage of the bishop’s age, but, according to the power of God the Father, to pay him every respect. I have learned that the holy presbyters likewise do not take advantage of his apparent youthfulness, but, as those who are prudent in God, defer to him—not to him, but to the Father of Jesus Christ, the bishop of all.
For the honor, then, of the one who willed us, it is fitting to obey without any hypocrisy. For no one merely deceives this visible bishop, but cheats the invisible One. Such a matter is not with flesh, but with God, who knows the hidden things.
