Who would dare speak to her Son as in prayer? As God, He is His Mother's hope; as Son of Man, He is her beloved Son. In fear and love it is fitting for Your Mother to stand before You.

Refrain: Praise to You on the day of Your manifestation, from Your flock.

You are the Son of the Creator, like Your Father as Creator. As Maker, You made for Yourself in the womb a pure body, put it on, and came forth; and You clothed our weakness with the glory that in mercy You brought from Your Father.

From Melchizedek the high priest came hyssop for You; from the house of David, a throne and a crown; from Abraham, stock and lineage. Who has ever spoken this way to her son as Your Mother speaks to You?

Be a harbor for me for Your own sake, O great Sea. See: the songs of David Your father and the words of the prophets have come toward me like ships; Your great wealth has been enough for me.

David Your father wove for You, in that psalm of one hundred and ten, two numbers like a crown and brought it to You. O Victor, be crowned with them, ascend, and sit at the right hand.

A great crown is the number woven in the hundred, by which Your divinity is crowned; a smaller crown is the number ten, which crowns the head of Your humanity, O Victorious One.

For Your sake women ran after men. Tamar desired a widowed man; Ruth loved a man grown old; and Rahab, who had taken men captive, was herself taken captive by You.

Tamar went out and in darkness stole the Light; in impurity she stole the Holy One; by a stratagem she stole. She entered and stole You, O Glorious One, who brings the chaste out of the impure.

Satan saw her, grew afraid, and hurried to obstruct her. He reminded her of judgment, but she did not fear stoning or the sword. The teacher of adultery tried to prevent adultery because he was trying to prevent You.

For Tamar's adultery was holy for Your sake: she thirsted for You, O pure Spring. Judah deprived her of drinking You; her thirsty womb stole a draught of You from its source.

She became a widow for Your sake. She longed for You, ran, and became a prostitute for Your sake. She yearned for You, kept her purpose, and became consecrated, because it was You she loved.

Let Ruth be glad, for she sought Your riches; let Moab rejoice. Let Tamar rejoice that her Lord has come—the One her son's name proclaimed, whose very name called You to come to her.

For You honorable women accepted shame, O One who gives chastity to all. In the crossroads she stole You, the One who lays the road to the Kingdom. Because it was Life she stole, the sword could not put her to death.

Ruth lay down beside a man on the threshing floor for Your sake. Her love made her bold for Your sake, O One who teaches boldness to all penitents. For the sake of Your voice she closed her ears to every other voice.

The live coal that crept into Boaz's bed went up and lay down there. She saw the High Priest hidden in his loins, the Fire for His incense. She hurried and became Boaz's heifer, so that she might give birth to You, the fatted Calf.

For love of You she went gleaning and gathered stalks. You quickly repaid the reward of her lowliness: instead of ears of grain, the Root of Kings; instead of gleanings, the Sheaf of Life dawned from her.
